When we serve as a “guardian”, we assist our clients with their personal decisions.
Like conservatorship, only the county Probate Court can determine that an adult needs a guardian. In each case, the court evaluates the individual’s capabilities and establishes a plan for them. Often, the courts appoint us to this role.
Depending on the court’s direction, our services can include decisions about medical care, a safe and appropriate place to live, and access to appropriate community programs. We always make these decisions with the individual’s and allow as much independence as possible.
