Get Ready for Mother's Day
Hundreds of local ladies live in nursing homes or other care facilities and many have little contact with family or friends.
Mother's Day will be special for many, however, since a local nonprofit adopted the cause of delivering flower baskets to them.
"Last year we delivered flowers for the first time and were overwhelmed by the response from these lovely ladies,’ said Pat Fosdick of Guardian Finance and Advocacy Services. ‘It was beautiful to see their eyes light up, one even cried.’
Help Us Honor Your Mom
That convinced the Guardian staff to expand the effort to reach more ladies in this situation.
Guardian invites the public to donate in honor of someone special, such as your own mother and grandmother. Guardian then buys and delivers the flowers, including a card noting the flowers also honor the person designated by the donor.
“Both my mother and mother-in-law are deceased, this was a wonderful way to honor their lives and brighten the life of another lady,” said one donor.
“Safeguarding At-Risk Adults”, Guardian is a nonprofit with over 43 years of service to Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties. Their services range from helping people balance their checkbook to serving in court appointed roles. Many of their clients are in nursing homes and other facilities.
